Hello, I'm Joanne, the heart and soul of Duchess Calligraphy. With a deep passion for the art of modern calligraphy, I offer bespoke services ranging from day-of wedding signage to custom event signage and engraving services. My journey began as the maid of honour at my sister's wedding, where I first dabbled in creating wedding signage and place cards. This sparked my love for calligraphy, initially nurtured by a roommate and now flourishing into the Duchess Calligraphy business. Blending traditional techniques with modern styles, I've expanded my skills to include engraving, turning everyday items into precious keepsakes.
By day, I navigate life as an Executive Assistant and embrace the joys and challenges of motherhood. By night, I dedicate myself to my true passion; creating personalized calligraphy pieces that bring joy not only to the couples I work for but to me as well. This craft is my sanctuary, a source of happiness and a dream I am ardently pursuing—to devote myself entirely to the art of calligraphy, making your visions for your special day a beautiful reality.

HOW MY BUSINESS NAME CAME TO BE:
The name of my business, Duchess Calligraphy, holds a special place in my heart, as it's a tribute to my first beloved pet, Duchess. Though we said goodbye to her a year ago, her memory continues to inspire me and lives on through my work and passion.

I’M A HUGE POTTERHEAD:
I love to collect all things Harry Potter. My sister even threw me a Harry Potter-themed bridal shower, which was an absolute delight. "Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban" remains a favourite book. And to this day, I am still revealing new layers of the series with every read.

FROM FONDANT TO FLOURISHES:
My sister and I once embarked on a fondant cake business adventure, tackling everything from birthday to wedding cakes while juggling our full-time careers. Though we've since stepped away from the professional baking scene, the skills and memories from that time now fuel my passion for baking cakes for my daughter, blending joy and creativity into every slice.
